| Stresses on plugging loopholes to improve functioning of Corporation |
SRINAGAR, JUNE 21: Minister of State for
Transport, Sunil Sharma, today convened a meeting here today to review
functioning of all Operational Units of State Road Transport Corporation and
its workshops in the Kashmir Division. Sharma, who is also Chairman SRTC,
said that the Government is taking a slew of measures to strengthen the
infrastructure of the Corporation. He stressed upon the officers to identify
loopholes to improve the functioning of SRTC.
He sought
suggestions from officers for streamlining the functioning of the Corporation. He said
that the Corporation would be soon turned into a profit making entity.
The
Minister further asked the officers to work with added zeal and dedication and
emphasized them to take necessary steps so that more revenue collection is
generated.
The meeting decided that CCTV cameras would be installed in the
Inter-State Buses of the Corporation for proper checking of passengers and it
was also decided that ladies conductors will be engaged for Ladies Special
Buses operating on the city routes.
Overall physical and financial performance of the Corporation, besides
need for augmenting workshops with skilled manpower was also discussed in
detail.
Vice-Chairman JKSRTC, Secretary Transport, Managing Director, JKSRTC,
RTO Srinagar and senior officers of the SRTC attended the meeting.
