SRINAGAR, JULY 7: Abdul Latief Deva, Chairman,
Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission, called on Governor N. N. Vohra, at
the Raj Bhavan here today.
Chairman briefed the Governor about the advances made by the Commission
and some of the difficulties, administrative legal and others which impeded.
Governor stressed the crucial importance of the Commission maintaining
transparency and unimpeachable standards as even a slight compromise would lead
to the functioning of public offices, departments and agencies being adversely
affected by the inadequate performance of functionaries who were not selected entirely
on merit. He advised the Chairman to ensure against any controversies and see that
every effort is made by the Members and staff of the Commission so that all
stake holders continue to repose full faith in the Commission.
Governor urged Chairman to ensure minimum human intervention and
maximum use of Information Technology in the conduct of examinations,
videography of interviews etc to enhance both efficiency and transparency.
