JAMMU, JULY 11 - Minister for PHE,
Irrigation and Flood Control, Sham Lal Choudhary today said the government has
taken various path breaking steps to streamline water supply in the
inaccessible areas of the state.
The Minister said this after inaugurating a tube-well for Water Supply
Scheme in Akhnoor to be constructed at the cost of Rs. 679.85 lakh. The
tube-well having a discharge of 5000 GPH will augment water supply in Akhnoor
town and other neighboring areas.
MLA, Akhnoor Rajeev Sharma, Chief Engineer PHE, Susheel
Aima, Chief Engineer I&FC, Rajeev Gandotra and other engineers of the
department were present on the occasion.
The Minister also interacted with the locals and informed them that the
government has taken up new Water Supply Schemes and lift irrigation schemes in
the area for streamlining the supply of water for drinking and irrigation
purposes. “The government is taking requisite steps for
providing sufficient drinking water to the people”, he added.
Later, the Minister also chaired a meeting with the officers of the
department to review the steps being taken up by the department for augmenting
water supply in Ransoo.
The Minister directed the officers to complete Sangar Water Supply
Scheme in two months so that people don’t face any difficulty.
