New Delhi, Jul 28 : Ministry of Defence today said that a total of 154 contracts under the 'Make in India' programme were signed during the past three years for procurement of equipment for the armed forces. The Minister of State for Defence Subhash Bhamre said in a written reply to Om Birla in the Lok Sabha today. According to MoD, contracts worth Rs 2,07,296.34-crore have been signed with domestic and foreign vendors during the period of past three years. The number of contracts signed with domestic vendors was 96, while 58 contracts were signed with foreign vendors amounting Rs 85,733.25-crore and Rs 1,21,563.09-crore respectively. In a move to strengthen the in-house production of defence equipment, the NDA Government has been continuously promoting such initiatives, to make the country more self-dependent in this regard and to overall consolidate the armed forces.
