GANDERBAL, JULY 22: District Development Commissioner
Ganderbal today convened a meeting to review the functioning of Forest, Social forestry, State
Forest Co-operation, Sericulture, Animal Husbandry and Municipal Committee
Ganderbal.
DDC directed the officers of Forest and Soil conservation departments
for taking up forestation drive and asked them to increase
plantations in the nurseries. The
Sericulture Department was asked to put in more efforts to increase the
production of cocoons.
The DDC called for taking appropriate steps for expanding the
sericulture activities in the remote areas of the district. He said that the
people particularly women from rural areas need to be involved in sericulture
activities which would help in sericulture production and ameliorate their
economic profile
He stressed upon the Animal Husbandry Department to adopt innovative
techniques to increase the production of milk, eggs, and poultry and emphasized
on setting up of Milk Cooperative Societies for the same.
Regarding the dumping of timber, SFC apprised the meeting that out of
1, 14069 cft, 86000 cft timbers has been disturbed among 1945 beneficiaries,
besides timber to the mosques and other religious institutions.
DDC also reviewed the working of Municipal Committee Ganderbal and
directed them to work effectively and cautiously in particular to the
permission being granted to buildings in urban sites. He also
directed the EO Municipal Committee to monitor the illegal encroachment of
roads and foot paths by the street vendors so that the common public should not
face any inconvenience.
He asked the concerned departments to work in close coordination for
better implementation of the schemes and welfare programmes.
The meeting was also attended by CPO Ganderbal, DFO Sindh, DFO Social
forestry, DM (SFC), Executive officer Municipal committee Ganderbal and other
officers.
