Stresses on development of rural pockets
JAMMU, JULY 21: Speaker Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly,
Kavinder Gupta conducted an extensive tour of Gandhi Nagar Constituency here
today.
Taking stock of various ongoing development works in the constituency,
the Speaker directed the concerned departments to complete the works in a time
bound manner to benefit the locals at the earliest.
The Speaker stressed for ensuring transparency in the working of the
departments and asked the concerned officers to submit the status reports
regularly to his office. He asked the officers to adopt cost efficient methods
for quality work.
During the tour, the Speaker inspected the construction of Bridge
connecting Kunjwani to Bishnah. He directed the concerned for early
completion of the bridge to meet the long pending demand of the locals. He said
that the low height of HT Wires over the bridge causing interruption in
completion is being raised by installing new tower.
The Speaker also inspected various parks in Kunjwani area and stressed
on their renovation and upgradation.
During the tour, the Speaker also interacted with local residents and
listened to their issues.
Locals of Bandurakh raised the issue of water scarcity in the area. The
Speaker assured redressal of their problem and directed PHE department for immediate
utility shifting of pipes to avoid further inconvenience to the locals.
At Shiv Nagar, the Speaker directed the concerned officers to install
adequate hand pumps in the area to meet the needs of the locals. He also
assured to recommend for the up-gradation of the roads of Shiv Nagar.
Stressing on the need for development of rural areas, the Speaker said
that many development projects are underway to develop the peripheral pockets
of his constituency.
Later, the Speaker chaired a meeting with the functionaries of PDD.
In the meeting, the Speaker evaluated the report on purchase of
Conductors and Poles costing Rs 1.85 cr provided by him out of CDF. He directed
the concerned officers to install newly purchased 100 kv and 250 kv
transformers at the earliest.
Executive Engineer, Sanjay Sharma, AEEs and other field officers of PDD
were present in the meeting.
