BARAMULLA, JULY 01: In an effort to discourage traffic violations, a checking team led by the Assistant Regional Transport Officer (ARTO), Baramulla, Chaudry Jamsheed, has imposed fines on several traffic offenders during its checking exercise in the past week.
During the exercise, the ARTO impressed on drivers of commercial and non-commercial vehicles to strictly adhere to motor vehicle rules. The drivers were asked ensure there is no over-speeding, over-loading, using phones while driving or jumping traffic signals.
Referring to the exercise, the ARTO has said the aim is to make driving safe for both drivers and pedestrians. He has said that it is not only about penalizing the private vehicles for violations but also ensuring public transport commuters do not face unnecessary inconvenience. He has called on the concerned to ensure that seating arrangements in public transport is as per rules and passengers are not made to suffer.
          The Department has said that it will conduct such exercise on regular basis to curb the menace of violation of traffic rules.
