New Delhi, Jul 28 : The RSS-affiliated Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas has denied reports in a section of media that it has ever recommended deletion of Rabindranath Tagore from the NCERT textbooks and has threatened to file a defamation suit against the concerned newspaper. In a statement here, the organisation said that by publishing such news - which are "baseless" and motivated, the newspaper has only tried to deflect attention. The letter sent to NCERT by Mr Atul Kothari on behalf of Shiksha Sanskriti Utthan Nyas only pointed out at certain limitations and lacuna in textbooks from class VI to Class XII. "A legal notice will be sent to the concerned paper," the statement said. Responding to a Zero Hour query from Trinamool Congress MP Derek O' Brien, Union HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar said that the text on Tagore will not be removed from school textbooks. “We hail everybody and nothing will be removed,” he has said. For NCERT books, Mr Javadekar said that the government has asked teachers and others to give suggestions to correct or remove “any factual errors” in textbooks, and as many as 7000 suggestions have been received. “We will not do anything which will create some problem,” he has said.
