Srinagar,
Jul 18 : Life was today affected due to strike in south Kashmir district of
Anantnag, where three militants were killed in a brief encounter with security
forces last night. Meanwhile, all educational institutions, which had reopened
only yesterday after summer break, were closed again as a precautionary
measure. Reports reaching here said that shops and business establishments
remained closed and traffic was off the roads in the town and adjoining areas
and outskirts. Work in government offices and banks was also affected due to
strike as majority of the employees could not make it to their offices due to
non availability of transport service. However, some private vehicles would be
seen plying. Additional security forces had been deployed on Khanabal-Pahalgam
road, being used by the Amarnath pilgrims to reach Nunwan base camp. Three
militants of Lashker-e-Toiba (LeT)—two local and a foreign, were killed in a
brief encounter with security forces in Anantnag last night. UNI
