SRINAGAR, AUGUST
09: Minister of State for Health and Medical Education, Social
Welfare, Housing & Urban Development, Asiea Naqash today convened a meeting
to review the functioning of tertiary care hospitals in Kashmir.
Principal Secretary Health and Medical Education, Dr. Pawan Kotwal, Principal
Government Medical College, Dr Samia Rashid, Director Health Services Kashmir,
Dr. Saleem-ur-Rehman and Medical Superintendents of the Associated Hospitals
attended the meeting.
Issues related to Emergency Care Units, Sanitation, Security Up-gradation of
ICUs and Super Specialty Hospital Shireen Bagh came up for discussion during
the meeting.
In order to provide better health care facilities to the people, Ms Naqash said
that there is need to strengthen the emergency services, sanitation and
security system in tertiary care hospitals.
Procurement and availability of drugs, basic facilities in hospitals, fire
fighting mechanism and availability of funds under different schemes were
discussed in detail.
The Minister directed the HoDs of
all medical institutions to submit DPRs of the works to be taken up in the
hospitals, till the end of this month so that healthcare facilities are improved.
For maintaining proper hygiene in the hospitals, she directed
the concerned authorities to ensure better sanitation measure in and
around the health institutes. She also said that the washrooms should be
renovated in all the hospitals and should be cleaned on regular basis.
The Minister asked the officials to implement all the decisions in letter and
spirit and asked them to personally monitor the health projects to ensure their
timely completion.
The meeting was informed about the need to increase manpower in the hospitals
for providing hassle free facilities to the patients.
