New Delhi, Aug 2 : Charging the ruling BJP with using all kinds of manipulation and stooping very low to win Rajya Sabha election in Gujarat, the Congress today said the party was hell bent on killing democracy in the August 8 elections. Reacting strongly over the IT raids at a resort in Bengaluru where Congress MLAs from Gujarat have been staying, AICC General Secretary and state unit incharge Ashok Gehlot tweeted, "Nobody could have thought, BJP would stoop so low...BJP is hell bent upon killing democracy in Rajya Sabha elections.’’ "First elections were postponed, then NOTA was permitted, they even started threatening MLAs in Gujarat, which led to defections from Congress.....Now they hv resorted to IT raids. It show their frustration n that BJP is rdy to use evry kind of manipulation to win elc. wch is condemnable," Mr Gehlot wrote on his twitter handle. Senior Congress leader Ahmed Patel, who is contesting the Rajya Sabha elections in Gujarat charged the BJP of being on an unprecedented witch hunt to win the Rajya Sabha seat. "BJP is on an unprecedented witch-hunt just to win one Rajya Sabha seat. After using the state machinery and every other agency, these I-T raids show their utter desperation and frustration,’’ Mr Patel said. The issue of IT raids on the resort rocked the Rajya Sabha today with Congress members creating uproar, forcing repeated adjournments of the Upper House, the last one for the day. UNI
