JAMMU, AUGUST 31: A team of
Food Safety Officers headed by Assistant Controller Food today conducted a
special drive to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food articles during
Eid-ul-Azha.
The team inspected 18 shops situated at different places - Narwal, Bahu
Plaza, Malik Market, Wave Mall, Satwari and Gandhi Nagar.
During the inspection 10 samples of various eatables including ice cream
(02), milk shake (01), milk (01), biscuit (01), cake (01), dry fruit (01),
fruit drink (01), snacks (01) and ladoo (01) were collected for testing their
quality status. Three challans were also issued by Food Safety Officers for
carrying out business under insanitary condition.
Public was advised to go through the label declaration while purchasing
a food product such as ‘Frozen Desert’ prepared from edible vegetable oil resembling ice cream prepared from
milk fat to assess the different quality parameters of the two similar
products.
All the Food Business Operators were directed to maintain high standards
of sanitary and hygienic conditions of their establishments so as to guarantee
safe and wholesome food to the general public.
The special drive will continue in the larger public interest.
