KATHUA, AUGUST 28: The District Information Centre today organized a multilingual Mushaira
and Cultural Bonanza at Government Higher Secondary School, Chakra.
Principal Neelam Sudha was the chief guest while staff and large numbers
of school students were present on the occasion.
The poets recited their creations in Hindi, Urdu, Punjabi and Dogri
languages on various social evils like drug addiction, female feticide, gender
disparity, illiteracy and dowry system.
Prominent among the poets who participated in the event included Vijay
Sharma, Chandu Bhau, Kuldeep Kippi, Pratima Khajuria, Sham Lal Khajuria and
others.
A cultural programme on patriotic themes in addition to Dogri, Punjabi
and Hindi folk songs was also presented by Joginder Kumar, Thomas Shub and
Sajan which was greatly applauded and enjoyed by the audience. The staff and
students also presented patriotic solo performances.
Speaking on the occasion, Neelam Sudha expressed gratitude to
Information Department for organizing such type of programmes. She appealed for
organizing more such programmes on regular basis.
