JAMMU, AUGUST 28: The Deputy Chief Minister, Dr Nirmal Singh today while
conducting surprise visits to Grid Stations in Jammu city directed the Power
Development Department to start the process of digitalization of all records
for its proper upkeep and maintenance.
Accompanied by Deputy Commissioner, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan and concerned
officers, the Dy CM visited Grid Station Bakshi Nagar, Civil Secretariat and
Panjtirthi to take stock of functioning of these installations.
Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy CM said that government is making
unprecedented efforts to improve power scenario in the state as PDD is among
the vital sectors which is receiving focused attention of the government.
Dr. Singh asserted that the adequate infrastructure has also been
created in the state for augmentation of power supply to the consumers. He said
that various existing feeders have been upgraded and many transformers with
high capacity have been installed to mitigate the power supply in power
stressed areas.
Stressing on maintaining discipline in the functioning of the
department, the Deputy CM directed authorities to enforce strict adherence to
duty roasters. He said that no laxity would be tolerated on the part of any
official with regard to well regulated power supply to the people.
He also asked the concerned offices to keep their activities at maximum
to reduce power pilferage and take legal action against the unregistered
consumers.
Dr Singh was informed that a new station at Shakti Nagar would start
functioning by December this year which would overcome power overload in the
area.
Later, the Deputy CM visited DC office complex and gave a patient
hearing to grievances of the people especially displaced persons of PoJK 1947,
1965 and 1971. He asked the designated authority to expedite the process on war
footing and send the cases to the Government so that beneficiaries get their
share under the Prime Minister’s relief package. He also directed
the officers to properly scrutinize the cases and upload the same on official
website on daily basis.
