Shimla, Aug 2 :Special Investigation Team of the CBI, which has been entrusted with the probe of sensational Gudiya gangrape case at Kotkhai, today filed first status report in the High Court apprising the division bench about the preliminary finding. A division bench of Acting Chief Justice Sanjay Karol and Justice Sandeep Sharma submitted the sealed status report within the stipulated 14 days of probe as the Court passed order on July 19 to come out with status report about investigation within two weeks. Talking to , Anshul Bansal counsel for the CBI, said the SIT submitted the status report to the High Court this morning, urging the bench not to make the report public keeping in view the sensitivity of matter and physical stature of finding. He said though the CBI submitted the status report in an open cover letter to the court, however, the High Court asked the CBI to submit the sealed report in the court and it would be kept sealed until the CBI did not complete the investigation. 'Keeping in the view the sensitivity of critical matter and physical stage of investigation, we have urged the court to keep the SR in a sealed letter further it would come out with additional status report before or on August 17,' he added. The crime took place on July 4 when a tenth standard student on the way to her home did not return and her naked body was recovered from Tandi jungle, considered Asia's thickest Deodar forest. State police constituted a SIT into the matter on July 10 and arrested five people allegedly involved in the crime, however, one of them died during the police investigation on July 18, forcing the High Court to hand over the probe to SIT of CBI . The court also handed over the case of mysterious death of one of accused in Kothaki police station, however, state police come out with the response that accused died during scuffle with his co-accused. During the CBI investigation into the matter the co-accused denied any assault. Number of people of Kotkahi and Theog, including this capital town come out in protest against the inapt handling of the probe terming the police theory 'framed'. UNI
