Jammu, Aug 19 :  The Editors Body was constituted here today to raise issues concerning the journalists’ fraternity and their welfare. Jammu Newspapers Editors Guild framed here will be headed by Raj Daluja as its chairman and A K Sawhney as its president. Other members of the Guild were Ram Kumar Dubey, Senior vice-president, Rajiv Mahajan, Syed Iqbal Kazmi, Subhash Mehra as vice presidents, Vijay Gupta as general secretary and Vishal Chopra as joint secretary. "J&K has its district feature of being the only state with Special Constitution Status suffering from the plague of terrorism from the last several decades therefore is quite often the Centre of news related to terrorism and thus has the distinction of the only Indian State being on the international media’s radar,’’ the guild Chairman here told reporters. He further added that the guild will soon be registered and affiliated with the National Editors Guild of India and work in tandem. Mr Sawhney, however, said that issues bothering the journalist fraternity of Jammu comprising Press Colony, advertisement, Health Insurance, future security would also be taken into consideration by the Guild. "Soon a seminar will also be organised where the dignitaries like Governor, Chief Minister, Union Minister will be invited and the role and problems of J&K media and newspapers in the state would be discussed,’’ said the Guild member.
