KATHUA, AUGUST 24: Krishi
Vigyan Kendra (KVK), Kathua today organized “Sankalp Se Sidhi” program
to commemorate the 75th Anniversary of Quit India Movement in which MLA Kathua,
Rajeev Jasrotia was the chief guest.
While speaking on the occasion, the MLA called upon the people to take a
pledge to make the nation clean and green, free from yoke of poverty,
corruption, terrorism and communalism. He also highlighted various schemes and
initiatives of the State and Central Government like soil health card, online
electronic marketing platform to remove the middle man from the supply chain.
Further, emphasis is being given to reduce the post harvest losses by improving
the storage and ware-housing facilities. He also laid stress upon using high
producing seeds, emphasis on allied farm activities like poultry farming, bee
keeping, dairy and fishery to improve farmer`s income.
MLA also encouraged farmers to take benefit of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima
Yojana (PMFBY), the flagship program of the central Government to mitigate the
economic stress associated with the crop failure and climate change besides
many other programs specially formulated for socio-economic upliftment of
farmers.
Stalls highlighting various schemes for the welfare of farmers by the
line department were also installed during the program.
Extension Director SKUAST Jammu, R K Arora, Sr. Scientist KVK Kathua, Dr
Amrish Vaid, large number of farmers, extension workers, social activists and
various organizations participated in the program.
