Aug 29: Union Minister of state for Labour Bandaru Dattatreya today said
the centre was finalising the amalgamation of different labour laws in the
country into four new labour codes. Speaking to reporters after inaugurating
the regional office of EPFO at K R Puram on the outskirts of the city, he said
there were 44 different labour laws in central sphere and they will be
amalgamated into 4 labour codes -- code on wages, code on industrial relations,
code on social security and code on working condition. He said the union
government's motto was to protect job security, wage security and social
security of the working class. Top priority was given to employment generation,
for which we have to create conducive atmosphere. Many initiatives in this
direction have been taken. Labour reforms is an ongoing, continuous process, he
said. Earlier, the Minister flagged off the Tiranga Yatra at the state-owned
Indian Telephone Industries premises. UNI
