MLAs distribute 70 Motorized Tricycles in Shopian, Wachi

SHOPIAN, AUGUST 31: MLA Shopian Mohammad Yousuf Bhat and MLA Wachi, Aijaz Ahmad Mir today distributed 70 Motorized Tricycles out of their CDF among the specially-abled persons at an awareness programme organized by Department of Social Welfare.

MLA Shopian said that the department of Social Welfare is for extending financial assistance and aid to differently-abled and needy persons. They said that the empowerment of such under privileged persons is essential as they too deserve to seek proper education, business and live a prosperous life with dignity. He appreciated the efforts of Social Welfare department and State Rehabilitation Council for improving the living standards of under privileged segments of the society by providing them various facilities.

          MLA Wachi said that the mandate of Social Welfare Department is the empowerment of physically challenged and needy people and exhorted upon officers of Social Welfare Department to work with more zeal and devotion for upliftment and betterment of needy through judicious use of funds and better implementation of various welfare schemes sponsored by State and Central Governments.

          On the occasion District Social welfare Officer Shopian described in detail several social security and welfare schemes of the department like AASRA, State Marriage Assistance Scheme (SMAS), Pension Schemes for old age, physically handicapped, Widow and militancy victims.
