JAMMU, AUGUST 23 – A one day training programme on online Service Voter Registration System was today held at Institute of Engineer, Channi Himmat, Jammu. Chief Electoral Officer, Shaleen Kabra was the chief guest on the occasion.
All the Electoral Registration Officers, Deputy District Election Officers, Election Naib Tehsildars and other Election officers from Jammu division participated in the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Shaleen Kabra said that the purpose of the online system is to create convenient and easy to use mechanism for the registration of defense personnel as voters. He said the system is based on relational database with registration and acceptance of forms for service voters. He said the service voter’s role is updated twice in a year and supplements are brought out by Electoral Registration Officers.
The CEO entrusted upon the officers to complete the process in a well coordinated and time bound manner. He also appreciated the electoral staff for conducting successful special drive for the inclusion of left out voters between the age of 18-21 years.
Earlier, Joint CEO, Raman Kesar gave a detailed presentation on the duties and responsibilities of Electoral Registration Officers with regard to the online Service Voter Registration System.
