Chennai, Aug 12 : All the 41 passengers in an AC Volvo bus from Karnataka had a providential escape after the bus caught fire, while entering the city, this morning. Police sources said the Karnatak State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) bus was plying on the Poonamallee bypass road, when a smoke emanated from the rear side of the vehicle, as it reached Thirumazhisai. The alert driver immediately stopped the bus, which was coming from Bengaluru, and all the passengers alighted from it. No one was injured in the incident. The bus was completely gutted in the fire, which was put out by fire tenders after battling hard for nearly an hour. Traffic on the road was blocked for nearly two hours as there were chances of the air-conditioner compressor in the bus blowing. The Poonamallee Traffic Investigation Wing registered a case. UNI
