Thiruvananthapuram,
Aug 29: The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) has sought a clarification from
Kerala Chief Secretary over the controversy in connection with the hoisting of
National flag by RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat at a school in Palakkad on
Independence Day. Sources said the PMO sought a clarification from the Chief
Secretary in this regard and advised to give a reply to BJP Palakkad District
President who had written a complaint to the Prime Minister alleging a conspiracy
to create divisive politics. Earlier, Palakkad District Collector had issued a
directive that it was inappropriate for a non-elected representative to unfurl
the tri-colour at an aided-school where the RSS Chief came to attend the
Independence Day celebration. The Collector said since the school was supported
by the state, it was inappropriate for a non-elected representative to unfurl
the tri-colour. Only a teacher at the school or an elected member could do so,
the order said. However, the RSS Chief, who defied the government order,
unfurled the National Flag at the school. Later, the Collector said action
would be taken against Mr Bhagwat for deying the government order. UNI
