Police officer thrashed, looted by miscreants in Jammu

Jammu, Aug 10 :  In a surprising incident a police officer was allegedly thrashed and looted by a group of miscreants in the Gujjar Nagar area located in the heart of the city here. 
''A police officer of inspector rank, presently posted in the security wing of Jammu and Kashmir Police was stopped by a group of goons last night at around 2230 hours in Gujjar Nagar area,’’ sources here said. 
They said that the miscreants first thrashed the cop and also attacked him with sharp edged weapons as he was in civvies and was riding a two-wheeler, adding, “they looted a cash worth thousands from him and gold ornaments.’’ 
He however, sustained injuries in the clash. 
An eyewitness said that the victim tried to chase the attackers as being a policeman he identified them as he himself had served as Station House Officer at many police stations in the City. 
An incident took place just few metres away from the Police Post Gujjar Nagar. 
''All the accused are identified and on a complaint lodged by the cop, raids were conducted in different parts of the town,’’ police said. 
They said that one of the attackers identified as Riaz Choudhary has been arrested, adding, a case under sections 323, 341 and 382 is registered at Police Post Gujjar Nagar. UNI
