New Delhi, Aug 5 :  President Ram Nath Kovind today called on the officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bahwan to rise to expectations of the people of the country by fulfilling their respective responsibilities. In a rare gesture, the President met President’s Military Wing officers and staff at Rashtrapati Bhavan . Addressing the workers and staffers, Mr Kovind said, 'The whole country looks up to Rashtrapati Bhavan with immense hope.' He, therefore, urged the officers and staff to rise to these expectations by fulfilling their respective responsibilities. Calling on the staffers to focus more on their duties than rights, he said,'If one looks at the lives of the great men of the country, one would find that they paid more attention to their duties than on their rights. We should learn from their lives and actions. 'You should focus more on duties rather than rights and develop the values of sacrifice and discipline.' He said that they should all be involved in the progress of the country and work together with honesty and dedication. This is for the first time that within just a few days of assuming office, the President has called a separate meeting to acquaint himself with the President’s Military staff. Military Secretary to the President introduced the Military Wing of Rashtrapati Bhavan to the President, comprising DMSP, ADCs, Ceremonial Section, Invitation Section, Tour Section, Visitor’s Management Cell, Household Section, Sanitation Section, President’s Bodyguard and Ceremonial Guard Battalion. This is the first of such meetings of the President scheduled to take place with the officers and staff of Rashtrapati Bhavan. UNI
