Road Safety Committee meeting held at Pulwama

          PULWAMA, AUGUST 28: District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar today convened separate meetings of District Road Safety Committee and matters related to the operation of illegal brick kilns in the district.

          He took several important decisions for minimizing the accidents and ensuring smooth flow of vehicular traffic and regarding illegal establishment of brick kilns, stone crushers and hot mix plants in the district.

Speaking on the occasion, DDC said that road safety is primarily meant for the protection and security of all those who travel on roads. It encapsulates all from pedestrians to two-wheelers to all types of multi-wheel transport.

It was decided that a Committee would be constituted which will form the District Road Safety plan within 15 days. The Committee will identify the accident prone areas so that corrective measures can be taken. 

The DDC said that our resolve must be to work towards ensuring that road accidents that claim precious human lives and cause disability and injury are minimized. He urged upon the concerned officers to make a survey of roads in their respective jurisdictions to identify the death traps, black spots and dead end curves on the roads with recommendations.

While taking a serious note of the illegal brick kilns, stone crushers and hot-mix plants operating in the district, the DDC directed the concerned officers for the identification of such establishments, which are functioning in violation of the environmental and brick kiln laws. He said that the administration would not allow any kind of new Brick kiln in the district and that strict action would be taken against the violators especially which are hazardous to agriculture and horticulture sectors.

The meeting was attended by ADC Pulwama, ADC Awantipora, ARTO besides all Tehsildars and other officers of the district.
