Srinagar, Aug 5: Security forces resorted to aerial firing to disperse stone pelting demonstrators at several places in Anantnag, where life remained crippled for the second day today due to spontaneous strike. People, mostly youths, took to the streets at several places, including Khanabal on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway today, to protest against the civilian and militant killing yesterday. However, when security force vehicles were passing through he area, demonstrators pelted stones and raised slogans. Security forces resorted to aerial firing to disperse the demonstrators and clear traffic on the highway. Similar demonstrations were also held by people at other places in the Anantnag town and adjoining areas. Meanwhile, business and other activities remained shut for the second day today in Anantnag, where authorities have ordered closure of all educational institutions. Work in government offices and financial institutions was affected due to strike. UNI
