Delhi/Panchkula, Aug 26: The death toll in violence perpetuated by Dera
supporters following the conviction of Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim
Singh in a Sadhvi rape case by a CBI special court in Panchkula of Haryana
yesterday has risen to 31. According to Panckula Police Control room, 'the
situation is tense in Haryana but very much under control. The situation in
Panchkula and Baba's stronghold Sirsa is also reported to be 'tense' but under
control.' As per the control room, 31 deaths have been reported so far with 29
in Panckula alone and two in Sirsa. More than 150 people have been injured in
the arson, most of whom are from Panckula. Delhi too has been affected with
incidents of vandalisation of property reported from many areas where Section
144 has been imposed as a precautionary measure but this excludes the middle
and north regions. UNI
