Jammu, Sept 22: Hours after the arrest of two people in Banihal Terror Attack including an employee of  a construction company, Inspector General of Police Jammu Zone S D Singh Jamwal today said that the youth involved were radicalised and motivated.
"The September 20 terror attack on SSB Camp in Banihal was this year's first of its kind attack," Mr Jamwal here said, while addressing a press conference.
      He said in around 24-hours the case was cracked and two of the attackers are arrested, while manhunt is launched to find out the third who is at large.
      "Two attackers namely Gazanffar and Aaqib were students and pursuing studies in Anantnag town of South Kashmir," said the top cop.
      He said that both of them belong to Banihal and were radicalised, motivated during their education days.
      "One Arif, an employee of Nav Yug construction company, was also arrested as he acted as guide and helper to them in executing the attack on SSB Camp placed near Jawahar Tunnel to guard under construction work of rail track and the tunnel on the highway," he asserted.
       "J&K Police assisted by the Army and other para-military forces foiled an attempt to revive militancy in the region," said the IGP and added, "we are investigating the matter that to which outfit they joined or whether had to join."
      "They had a pistol on the basis of which they attacked the SSB men and snatched one INSAS and Assault Rifle to further fire indiscriminately. We have recovered the weapons," said Mr Jamwal.
      Timely action of police have prevented them to get further radicalised while they will be punished as per the law.
      The officer however, ruled out any involvement of their in taking revenge against deportation of Rohigyas and added, "we cannot assume that Jammu province is completely free of anti-national activities because crime can happen anywhere, anytime and we also have dynamic behaviour to counter any such design."
      Few months ago a police picket in Tanta was fired upon but the case was solved in around 24-hours and all the five persons involved were traced and action initiated.
      In a major success, the Indian Army and J&K Police, in a swift joint operation apprehended Gajnafar and Arif, involved in the terrorist attack at Banihal on the SSB personnel on Wednesday, 20 September 17. 
      Two service rifles, including an AK assault rifle and an Insas rifle, which were snatched during the attack, were also recovered from their possession.
      Gajnafar, son of  Mohammad Haji Iqbal Yaqub, resident of Kaskote and Arif, son of Ghulam Hussain, resident of Ashaar, Banihal had been recruited by the inmical forces in the Kashmir valley to foment terror in the Chenab valley region. 
      The duo, along with Aquib Wahid, s/o Abdul Wahid, r/o Kaskote were involved in the heinous crime wherein an SSB personnel was martyred and another critically injured.
      The apprehension is a significant blow to the nefarious designs of Anti National elements in promoting and supporting terrorism in otherwise peaceful Chenab Valley in the state of J&K. Search of the area and further investigations are under progress," said an official. UNI
