SRINAGAR,
SEPTEMBER 26: A meeting of District Level
Review Committee (DLRC) was held here today under the chairmanship of District
Development Commissioner Srinagar, Syed Abid Rashid Shah to review the progress
achieved in the first quarter of 2017-18 under District Credit Plan.
The
meeting was attended by AGM RBI, Officers from NABARD, DIC, EDI, UDAK,
Horticulture, Agriculture, Animal & Sheep Husbandry Departments, Senior
Managers of banks and other sponsoring agencies operating in Srinagar.
The
meeting was informed that by June 2017, around Rs 914.46 crore have been
distributed against the target of Rs. 5970.73 crore in the district by
financial institutions in the district under priority and non-priority sectors.
The
DDC Srinagar stressed on enhancement in the overall credit flow of banks in the
district which is must for financial impetus and improving income levels and
thereby help in raising standard of living of people. Besides he
impressed upon the banks operating in district Srinagar to improve their CD
Ratio.
He
said that the Srinagar is the place of pride in culture, history and
administration but very poor CD ratio reflects the health of banking sector in
the district. He called upon officers to work with added vigour and zeal so
that tangible results to take the Srinagar district as a role model for
development are achieved.
The
DDC called for creating mass awareness about Government sponsored credit
schemes in print and electronic media so that more and more people avail their
benefits.
He
also advised the representatives of financial institutions and sponsoring
agencies to come forward and help the urban poor of the capital for eradicating
poverty, unemployment and reaching out to the poorest of poor.
The DDC emphasized that all banks operating in the
district should organize financial literacy camps particularly in the rural and
semi urban belts of Srinagar to educate and aware masses about various banking
products and Government sponsored schemes.
