Srinagar, Sep 8: Jammu
and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik, who was arrested and
lodged in Central Jail Srinagar since yesterday, was released this morning.
A JKLF spokesperson said that Malik was
released this morning from Central Jail Srinagar. Malik was arrested yesterday
from the JKLF office in Abi Guzar in civil lines. He said after offering Friday prayers in a local mosque, Malik participated in a sit-in protest organized by JKLF against ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.
“Slaughtering of Muslims in Myanmar and the silence of international community is a glaring example of apathy and discrimination on the basis of religion and ethnicity,” said the JKLF chief while addressing the protestors.
He said that the international community rightly cries hard when any incident happens in Europe, US or any west Asian countries, but when it comes to Kashmir, Palestine and places like Rakhine state of Myanmar, standards of human rights change and emphasis is given to trade, commerce and other worldly matters.
Malik also urged the international community, including Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and United Nations, to break their silence over the ethnic cleansing of Rohingya Muslims. UNI
