Srinagar, Sep 18: Around Rs 45 crore will be utilised to develop power sector, including upgrading the infrastructure, under various central sponsored schemes in south Kashmir district of Kulgam.
      Officials said that the Power development department has undertaken a massive process of upgradation the infrastructure in Kulgam.
      Under Restructured Accelerated Power Development and Reforms Programme (R-APDRP), they said a project worth Rs 6.16 crore has been approved for Kulgam town.
      They said Rs 17 crore has been approved for upgradation seven towns of the district under Integrated Power Development Scheme (IPDS).
      Under Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojna (DDUGJY), they said upgrading the power infrastructure for Rs 21.78 crore has been tendered out to Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) which shall be benefitting 150 habitations.
      Meanwhile, under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Gurantee Act (MGNREGS), 48622 job cards have been issued so far generating 10000 man-days by August, 2017, they said, adding that work on 5112 spill-overs is going on in Kulgam district.
      They said a total of 418 Self-Help Groups have been formed this year so far covering 49 villages under National Rural Livelihoods Mission (NRLM). Under this scheme, boosting the rural economy is the prime motive. 
       With respect to education, they said that under Rashtriya Madhyamik Shiksha Abhiyan (RMSA), work on seven buildings has been completed so far while as work on three others is going on. “An expenditure of 56.62 per cent of the Rs 608 lakh has been incurred so far,” they said.
      They said that 98 per cent institutional deliveries, 100 per cent immunisation and 96 per cent coverage under IPIP has been achieved in the district. Under Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakaram (JSSK), an expenditure of Rs 21.5 lakh has been made so far under which medicare facilities to 1864 pregnant women have been provided. Under Janani Suraksha Yojana (JSY), 1287 mothers have been provided financial assistance.
      They said under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), a road-length of 221.35 Kms has been added to the district roads through 88 completed schemes covering 74 habitations and benefiting 256054 souls. 
       To provide the financial assistance to the poor and weaker sections, they said that an expenditure of 66.67 per cent of Rs 230 lakh has been achieved so far. 
      Meanwhile, they said 15066 gas connections have been provided to the female Below Poverty Line (BPL) households of which 4879 connections were provided without loan under Prime Minister Ujjwala Yojana. UNI
