Srinagar, Sep 8: The
train services have again been suspended for security reasons in Kashmir
valley, where separatists have urged people to protests after Friday prayers against
ethnic cleansing of “Rohingya Muslims” in the Rakhine state of Myanmar.
“We have suspended all train runs in
Kashmir valley for security reasons,” a senior railway official told UNI. He said train service on Badgam-Srinagar in the central Kashmir to Anantnag-Qazigund in south to Banihal in Jammu region was suspended since early this morning.
Similarly, trains will not run on Budgam in central Kashmir to Baramulla in north for security reasons today.
“We have taken the decision to suspend train services in Kashmir valley after receiving an advisory from the administration and police in view of security reasons,” he said.
During the past about three months, train services have been suspended frequently for security reasons in the valley, where train property had suffered damage due to demonstration. Last year, train service remained suspended for about six months due to summer unrest in the valley.
However, daily travelers are the most affected due to suspension of train service which is now being considered more economical and fast. UNI
