BRICS Declaration deplores nuke test by North Korea, calls for efforts to fight terror

Xiamen, Sept 4: The BRICS Declaration adopted at the 9th BRICS Summit today said the fight against terrorism must be conducted in accordance with international law, including the Charter of the United Nations, international refugee and humanitarian law, human rights and fundamental freedoms. "We strongly deplore the nuclear test conducted by the DPRK," it said. "We reaffirm our commitment on increasing the effectiveness of the UN counter-terrorism framework.....," the declaration said. It also called for expeditious finalisation and adoption of the Comprehensive Convention on International Terrorism (CCIT) by the United Nations General Assembly. "We deplore all terrorist attacks worldwide, including attacks in BRICS countries, and condemn terrorism in all its forms and manifestations wherever committed and by whomsoever and stressed that there can be no justification whatsoever for any act of terrorism," it said.
