Srinagar,
Sep 27: Curfew like restrictions have been imposed in apple township of
Sopore, about 55 km from here in north Kashmir district of Baramulla as a
precautionary measure. Officials said that restrictions under Section 144 CrPC
have been imposed in the Sopore town to maintain law and order. All roads,
leading to town, have been closed with barbed wire to prevent any traffic or
pedestrian movement since early this morning as there was apprehension of
trouble following the killing of self styled top commander Abdul Qayoum Najar,
a resident of Sopore when he infiltrated into this side in Boniyar area of Uri
yesterday. Najar, most wanted was buried at village Mumkak Batopora, Sopore
late last night. Additional security forces and state police personnel had been
deployed in the town to prevent any law and order problem. People alleged that
they were not being allowed to move out of their houses by the security forces.
Security forces had also closed tehsil road, court road, Chanakhan and other
areas in the town. However, situation elsewhere in the north Kashmir was
normal. UNI
