Chandigarh, Sep 1: The first Punjabi film on Hockey ‘Khido Khundi’, which will hit screens around the globe by March 2018, is an endeavor to revive the glory of the game and to attract the youth to adopt it.
The film title ‘Khido Khundi’, which means ball & hockey stick, derived from a rural name of the game, dedicated to the sport which is not just a game, but the heartbeat of Punjab, Director Rohit Jugraj said while releasing the poster of the film here today.
The film produced by Hayre Productions and Sagoon Wagh will be a tribute to hockey and its nursery Sansarpur, a small village on outskirt of Jalandhar district of Punjab, which has produced as many as 14 hockey Olympians.
"The story of film revolves around two Punjabi Non Resident Indian(NRI) brothers who, against all odds, come to Sansarpur with an aim to make Hockey alive again and constitute team of local youths with an objective to inspire and attract them to the game,' said Mr Jugraj.
The film will also witness Punjabi film artists, many former hockey Olympians and leading players of Hockey India team and European hockey league portraying different roles.
