Andrabi reviews Muharram arrangements

Asks officers to ensure basic facilities to people

JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 18: Minister of State for Haj & Auqaf, PHE and I&FC, Power Development, Industries and Commerce, Syed Farooq Ahmad Andrabi today convened a meeting to review the arrangements being made by the divisional administration for the upcoming Muharram-ul-Haram.

Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. M.K. Bhandari, IGP, S.D. Singh Jamwal, DC Jammu, Kumar Rajeev Ranjan, SSP Jammu, Dr. Sunil Gupta, Commissioner JMC, M. Raju, Director Local Bodies Jammu, Sushma Chouhan, SSP Security Jammu, Ashok Sharma besides senior officers of various Departments and representatives of Shia Federation and other religious organizations were present in the meeting.

The Minister directed the Jammu Municipal Corporation and PWD to repair/improve the roads and defunct streetlights besides ensuring cleanliness and sanitation in Shia inhabited areas so that the devotees do not face any inconvenience during the Muharram days. He also directed the PDD and PHE to ensure regular power, water supply and press into service additional water tankers to Imambaras and other water stressed places.

The Police Department was asked to ensure fool proof security arrangements with additional deployment of police personnel and also increase patrolling and Nakas for providing security to devotees especially during late hours.  Besides this, the SSP Traffic was asked to devise proper traffic regulation and diversion plans on the routes of religious processions.

The Health Department was directed to deploy medical teams and station well-equipped ambulances along the Muharram processions.

Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department was asked to provide adequate supply of food grains well in time and also dispatch adequate ration, LPG, Kerosene Oil and other necessary items to other districts.

While reviewing arrangements in other districts of Jammu division through video conference, Andrabi directed the respective district administrations to put in place all requisite arrangements for the Muharram observances in their respective districts.

Divisional Commissioner informed the chair that series of meetings have already been convened in all the districts of Jammu division for smooth conduct of the Muharram.
