ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 15 : As part of the nation-wide cleanliness drive, the Deputy Commissioner,
Anantnag, Mohammad Younis Malik today launched the cleanliness drive - “Swachta He
Sewa” from the DC
Office Complex here.
This cleanliness drive is a fortnight program starting from 15th of
September to 2nd of October, 2017 under which
multi-pronged methods shall be adopted for sanitation and educating people
about the significance of having clean environs.
On the occasion, the DC said that although people maintain cleanliness
and hygiene at individual levels, the need of the hour is to join together to
make the entire district clean. He said this has to be people’s movement
and participation on voluntary-basis can only make this drive a success.
He said people should accord priority to clean water sources, public
utility spaces and pathways. He appealed the people to pledge not to make use
of polythene and to make the district open defecation free (ODF) district.
Similar cleanliness drives were also undertaken by RAMKY authorities
where the Additional Deputy Commissioner, Shabir Ahmad Bhat launched the drive
at Qazigund. Speaking on the occasion, the ADC said that development and
infra-structure creation bears value only where there is clean and hygienic
environment.
A plethora of functions were also held in various hospitals particularly
at District Hospital and Maternity and Childcare Hospital.
ACR and ACD started the drive from Government Degree College (Boys) Khanabal
to Batengoo to clean the shoulders of national highway.
As part of the programme, roadshows, seminars, debates, painting and
essay competitions shall be held throughout the district.
Similar activities also took place at sub divisions of Pahalgam, Bijbehara,
Dooru and Kokernag and all other tehsil headquarters of the district.
