PULWAMA, SEPTEMBER 21: District
Information Centre (DIC) Pulwama organized a debate on drug addiction and its
effects at Government Degree College for Women, Pulwama.
District Development Commissioner Pulwama, Ghulam Mohammad Dar was chief
guest on the occasion and was accompanied by Additional District Development
Commissioner. A two-tier essay competition and a debate were held in which students
from the various colleges and Higher Secondary Schools participated.
At the seminar, drug abuse and its vicious cycle and the importance of
mental health was discussed threadbare by consultant Neuro-psychiatrist, Dr.
Majid Shafi.
Participants from leading NGOs also spoke at the event. A skit was also
performed at the event portraying the ill effects of the drug abuse and its
consequences on the society.
The DDC highlighted the role of civil society, teachers, parents, and
prayer leaders in curbing this menace.
Principal GDC Pulwama also spoke on the occasion. Functionaries from
Health Department, ICDS and College Faculty were also present at event.
