GANDERBAL, SEPETEMBER 05: The Deputy
Commissioner (DC), Ganderbal, Dr Piyush Singla today reviewed the arrangements made for
ensuing Muharram-ul-Haram.
SSP Ganderbal, Fayaz Ahmad Lone, Additional Deputy Commissioner
Ganderbal, Syed Shahnawaz Bukhari, officers from Police, Revenue, Health, PDD,
PHE, R&B, Fire and Emergency Services, FCS&CA Departments, representatives
of prominent Shia Anjumans were also present in the meeting.
The Deputy Commissioner directed the concerned to take pro-active
initiatives in ensuring all requisite facilities are available, including safe
drinking water, black topping of roads, supply of fire wood and un- interrupted
power supply.
The PDD authorities were directed to ensure street lights at all the
important places during these days. The PHE authorities were directed to ensure
that water tanks are provided at identified locations. The DC also directed
health department to put an ambulance with doctor and paramedics available in
the area.
Similarly, the Executive Officer, Municipal Committee, Ganderbal was
directed to ensure proper sanitation and cleanliness in the concerned villages,
while as district FCS&CA officials were directed to ensure adequate
supplies of ration and other commodities are maintained. The R&B
authorities were directed to ensure that the roads where the muharram
procession would be taken are repaired at an earliest.
The ARTO was directed to ensure special transport facilities till the
conclusion of the procession on the day of Aashura. Regarding firewood, the
concerned officer was directed to dump the required quantity of firewood at
already identified locations as per past practice in the district.
