Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans, Daljit
Singh Chib, today chaired a meeting to review the implementation of Centrally
Sponsored Schemes launched by Government for its Farmers.
The meeting was attended by District Officers of
Agriculture and Allied Sectors besides Prominent and Progressive Farmers of
District Budgam.

Commissioner Budgam presented the Agriculture profile of district Budgam. He
informed the Vice Chairman that although District Budgam is economically and
educationally poor, but the District has a huge potential for Agriculture and
other sectors which needs attention of Government for its effective
exploitation to achieve sustainable and equitable Agriculture growth in
District Budgam. He further apprised that Chadoora belt of District Budgam is a
biggest vegetable producer in the State for which the proper marketing is
needed so that farmers can get maximum returns.
During the course of meeting, the Progressive Farmers highlighted their
problems and expressed hope for redressal of these problems at the hands of
Vice-Chairman J&K State Advisory Board for Development of Kisans.
Officials briefed the VC about various Centrally Sponsored Schemes and
expressed hope that the concerned departments will actively work on these
schemes, regardless of race, creed or circumstances to achieve overall
Agriculture growth in the State, particularly in District Budgam.
He also directed the officers to work in coordination and advised them for
conducting awareness programmes among the farmers. He advised farmers to avail
the Kisan Credit Loan Scheme and other welfare schemes available with the
Government. He also directed to District Chief Agriculture Officer, Budgam to
gear up the Village Agriculture Extension Assistants in villages and ask them to
make village plans for efficient use of these welfare schemes.
The meeting was attended by Tajinder Singh, Senior
Superintendent of Police, Budgam besides District Officers of Agriculture,
Fisheries, Animal Husbandry, Sericulture, Floriculture and representatives of
Jammu and Kashmir Bank Limited.
