JAMMU, SEPTEMBER 27: Speaker,
Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Kavinder Gupta today stressed on the
need for close monitoring of development projects to ensure timeline completion
and use of quality material.
He was
interacting with the locals during an extensive tour of Gandhi Nagar
Constituency conducted to inspect the progress of various development works.
The Speaker exhorted upon the concerned authorities to evolve an
effective mechanism for regular monitoring and follow up of all ongoing works.
While inspecting the work on Rs 4.5 crore Gurudwara- Preet Nagar road in
Nanak Nagar, the Speaker expressed satisfaction over the pace and appreciated
the concerned agencies for maintaining the quality.
The locals expressed their gratitude to the Speaker for fulfilling this
long pending demand of their area. They put forward some more demands
pertaining to development.
Addressing the locals, Kavinder said that every requirement related to
development of the constituency has been taken up on priority.
The Speaker was accompanied by MLC Vikram Randhawa and senior
functionaries of concerned departments.
The Speaker reiterated the commitment of the government to reach out to
the people with enhanced amenities and prompt service delivery. He said that implementation of the development plans are being undertaken in stages
across the constituency to meet expectations of the people.
“Works
pertaining to improvement of power and water supply, construction of lanes and
drains and enhancing other civic amenities had already been taken up and would
be completed in a time bound manner,” the Speaker asserted.
Later, the
Speaker also laid foundation stone for construction of drain at Sector no. 68,
Greater Kailash. The Speaker directed the concerned executing agencies for
timely completion to benefit the locals at the earliest.
The locals also demanded construction of lanes and drains, blacktopping
of roads, sanitation and parks besides adequate power and water supply to the
area, The Speaker assured them that all their issues would be looked into for
an early redressal.
Meanwhile
the Speaker attended awareness programme organized by Social Welfare Department
under ‘Swachhta Hi Seva' campaign here at Ram Darbar Mandir, Shastri Nagar.
Emphasizing on public contribution, the Speaker called upon volunteers,
self-help groups and NGOs to contribute their bit in keeping environment clean.
Appreciating the initiative of the department, the Speaker said that
such programmes spread awareness among the people to maintain a healthy
environment.
Deputy Director, ICDS Social Welfare Jammu, Deepika Rana, CDPOs Gandhi
Nagar & Satwari besides ICDS officers and Anganwadi workers were also
present on the occasion.
