ANANTNAG, SEPTEMBER 08: The Deputy Commissioner Anantnag, Muhammad Younis Malik today convened a
meeting to review road safety measures in the being undertaken in the district.
During the meeting, officers from various Departments including Traffic,
J&K Police, Municipalities, Education, R&B, Health and Revenue put
forward their suggestions regarding the various measures to ensure safe
commuting.
To ease traffic congestion and to ensure smooth regulation of traffic,
the DC was informed that land has been identified at three locations for the
construction of parking slots.
The Deputy Commissioner said that intensity of road accidents especially
involving bikers has drastically increased over the last one month in Anantnag,
which is a matter of great concern. He said that displaying of traffic hoarding
with traffic rules written on them at vulnerable points in the district,
special circular regarding traffic rules for the school buses, sensitization of
college and school students by organizing relies, repairing defunct street
lights, alternate space to be allotted to the vendors, LCDs displaying traffic
rules and regulations to be installed at various places, Petrol Pumps to be
informed not to provide fuel to bikers without helmets and above all general
public to be educated regarding the road safety measures, should be taken for
making Anantnag a model district in terms of road safety.
