New Delhi, Sep 1: The new Vice Chairman of NITI Aayog Rajiv Kumar today said that NITI Aayog will create a platform where all stakeholders across sectors can work together towards India's development. Talking to media persons after taking over the charge of VC of NITI Aayog, Dr Kumar said, “NITI Aayog will generate out of the box, transformational ideas to make India an economically advanced nation.” The noted economist Dr Kumar said, “There is so much work in progress that Quarter 1 of the financial year (Q1) should be seen for what it is - a mere blip before the next quarter.” Dr Kumar further said that job creation, entrepreneurship, agriculture, health & nutrition are key priorities to make Development a Mass Movement in India. He added that the idea of competitive, cooperative federalism will be realized by NITI by working closely with the States. Earlier in the day he took over as the vice-chairman of government think tank Niti Aayog. Dr Kumar, who replaced Arvind Panagariya, was a senior fellow at the Centre for Policy Research. Arvind Panagariya, an Indian-American economist has left the think tank on Thursday to return to academia. Dr Kumar was a senior fellow at the Centre for Policy Research (CPR). He holds a DPhil in economics from Oxford and a PhD from Lucknow University. He had also served as Secretary General of industry association FICCI. He was a member of the National Security Advisory Board between 2006 and 2008. He had also served as the chief economist of the Confederation of Indian Industries (CII) and held senior positions in the Asian Development Bank, the Indian Ministry of Industries, and the Ministry of Finance.
