Sep 23: With a view to attract both domestic and tourists, the district
administration has introduced Palace on Wheels, a day-long tour of various
tourist attractions in Mysuru in a luxury bus. The 37-seater air conditioned
bus will take the tourists to the main palace, Jaganmohan Palace (Art Gallery),
Lalitha Mahal Palace, Regional Museum of Natural History, Indira Gandhi
Rashtriya Manav Sangrahalay, CFTRI, Railway Museum and Jayalakshmi Vilas
Mansion. The package, which costs Rs.999 per ticket, includes lunch at Lalitha
Mahal Palace and the pick up and final drop point is the Kote Anjaneyaswami
temple adjoining the Palace. The tourists were taken around the clock tower,
DC’s office, Oriental Research Institute, Crawford Hall, K R Hospital, Railway
buildings, etc. Assistant Director of Tourism Janardhan said that the concept
had good potential and could be a permanent feature for tourists. He said a
publicity campaign of its importance among the stakeholders in the hospitality
sector was in the offing so that the tourists are made aware of the facility.
This will also make tourists extend their stay in the city to cover other
places and will be mutually beneficial to both the hotels and restaurants and
the tourism sector, said Mr Janardhan. Tickets can be booked on the KSRTC
website or on the official Dasara website www.mysoredasara.gov.in The tour will
operate till October 2. Minister for Transport H M Revanna flagged off the tour
with the bus services being provided by the KSRTC. UNI
