Delhi, Sept 29: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday expressed his
condolences on the deaths in a stampede at Elphinstone railway station in
Mumbai. 'My deepest condolences to all those who have lost their lives due to
the stampede in Mumbai. Prayers with those who are injured,' Mr Modi tweeted.
The Prime Minister said the situation in Mumbai is being continuously monitored
and Railway Minister Piyush Goyal is in Mumbai taking stock of the situation
and ensuring all assistance. At least 22 people died in a stampede at Mumbai’s
Elphinstone railway station this morning. Railway spokesperson Anil Saxena said
22 people were killed and 30 others injured in the stampede. The station, on
the Western Line of the Mumbai suburban rail network, also connects to Parel
station on the Central line. UNI
