Sept 5: Marking a major diplomatic development in recent months and coming
at the end of nearly three month-long face off between India and China in
Doklam sector, Prime Minister Narendra Modi today held bilateral talks with
Chinese President Xi Jinping. "I congratulate you for the success of the
BRICS Summit this year," Prime Minister Modi told the Chinese President
during bilateral talks attended among others by Foreign Secretary S Jaishankar
and National Security Adviser. Chinese President Xi Jinping also said that his
country is also working together with India. Both the leaders also shook hands
for a while and posed before the lensmen and TV cameras for recording the
historic moment. The bilateral parleys took place on the sidelines of BRICS
Summit. The "face-off" at Doklam tri-junction had begun around 16
June when Chinese People’s Liberation Army troops began constructing a road in
the Doklam sector. UNI
