Delhi, Sept 30: Rajni Kant Mishra today became new Director General
Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), taking over the charge from the first woman head of
a paramilitary force Archana Ramasundaram here at the force headquarters. Mr
Mishra, a UP Cadre IPS officer of 1984 batch, prior to taking over the charge
of DG SSB, was serving as ADG BSF Headquarters. He has also worked on important
deputations as IG, ADG BSF at Frontier Headquarters in Tripura and South
Bengal. As a decorated officer, Mishra is a recipient of Police Medal in 2003
and Prestigious President Police Medal in 2009. Ms Ramasundaram, the first ever
woman DG in the country to command a paramilitary force achieved superannuation
today after serving as an Indian Police Service officer for a period of 37
years. Her tenure as DG SSB was for one year and eight months. 'Past one year
and eight months with SSB have been pleasing, and I can look back with pride
after serving as the first ever lady DG of a paramilitary force,' Ms
Ramasundaram had remarked on the eve of her superannuation yesterday. She said,
'There were challenges harder than fenced borders on the friendly borders, and
added,'border security is now more complex, it was now more of border
