Delhi, Sept 17: The Sharad Yadav faction of Janata Dal (United ) today
removed Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar from the post of party's president
and appointed senior Gujarat party leader Chhotu Bhai Vasava as its working
president. The suspended leader from Nitish led JD(U) party, Arun Srivastava
today informed that the senior party leaders today met here. Nineteen state
presidents of the outfit and other members of the executive took part in the
meeting in which it was decided to render all decisions previously taken by
Nitish Kumar as party president as 'invalid'. Mr Srivastava informed about the
appointment of Gujarat party legislator Vasava as the new working party
president in place of removed Mr Kumar. He also told about party's plans to meet
the Election commissioner tomorrow in connection with the allotment of election
symbol to the party and to seek time to submit relevant documents in this
regard. Mr Srivastava stated that the party has constituted a 'discliplinary
committee' to initiate an enquiry against Mr Kumar and others ditching the
party. The Sharad group of the JD(U) had convened this meet of the national
executive in which future strategy of the party was also discussed. UNI
