US condemns killing of Syrian activist, her journalist daughter in Istanbul

Washington, Sept 23: The United States (US) has condemned the perpetrators of the murder of Syrian activist Arouba and her journalist daughter Hala Barakat in Istanbul, Turkey and assured to closely follow the investigation. "The United States is deeply saddened by the deaths of Syrian activist Arouba and her daughter Hala Barakat," the State Department spokesperson Heather Nauert said here yesterday in a press statement. "Hala served as a journalist for Orient News and we remember the courageous work of her mother, Arouba, a Syrian activist who reported on the Syrian regime’s atrocities. The United States condemns the perpetrators of these murders and we will closely follow the investigation," the statement added. The statement said the United States continues to seek a peaceful, political resolution to the Syrian conflict that can be supported, owned, and led by the Syrian people. UNI
