16: Four people were killed and three injured when a double-storey house
collapsed following an LPG cylinder blast at Eejipura locality in the city on
Monday. Fire force officials said the two-floored structure, about 30-year-old,
came down in a heap after the cylinder blast and four bodies were taken out of
the rubble, while three others were rescued. One of two more persons were
feared trapped under the debris. The officials also said two or three more
persons were suspected to have trapped under the debris and rescue work was in
full swing with the help of 15 people-strong NDRF persons who also rushed to
the scene of the mishap. Two of the deceased were identified as Kalavati (68)
and Ravichandran (30) while the other two are yet to be identified. The three
injured, who were out of danger were admitted to a nearby hospital. Two of them
were children. While the rescue work was on a wall of the house collapsed
suddenly injuring three fire services men -- Suresh Subhan and Soma and they
were also hospitalised. State Home Minister Ramalinga Reddy, who rushed to the
spot along with Mayor Sampat Raj, said two persons living in the first floor
had died and they were identified as Kalavati (68) and Ravichandran (41).
Identity of other two was being ascertained. He said there were seven small
houses in the two floor structure and three dwellings were vacant. UNI
